Today, we will share the experience of visiting the Miracle of the Sun, Interactive Museum. This article is part of the “Museums of Fátima” series, where our team visits and highlights the excellent work done by these institutions in Fátima.
The visit to the Miracle of the Sun Interactive Museum begins with the guide’s brief historical overview, recounting the period of the apparitions when the world was embroiled in the First World War. We might expect the usual path—screens with images, texts, and old videos, leading us down a corridor. But then, we are surprised by the first hologram. Slowly, the image of the Angel appears, and a unique sensation fills the air in the dim light of the room. Was it actually like this? Could this be close to the experience of the Little Shepherds? It’s possible! After all, we can appreciate the care with which everything is presented.
Brief History
Inaugurated on June 12, 2012, the Miracle of Fátima Museum brings the story of the 1917 apparitions to life, utilizing advanced technologies such as holograms and 3D to immerse visitors in this remarkable history.
During the 40-minute guided tour, visitors are transported back to the time of the apparitions, experiencing the Angel’s appearances and Our Lady’s visits to the three Little Shepherds, the Miracle of the Sun, the Secret, and the visits of Pope John Paul II. The journey concludes with the interactive lighting of a candle.

Experience
The Interactive Experience is brought to life through hologram projections, 3D videos, touchscreens, screens displaying historical images and even the fragrance of roses—reminiscent of what witnesses of Our Lady’s Apparition claimed to have smelled. This multisensory experience offers a glimpse into how the Angel’s and Our Lady’s apparitions might have unfolded in Fátima.
And just when you think it’s over…
There are a few hidden gems, like the map of the Message of Fátima and the room where we can step into the history of Pope John Paul II.

What will pilgrims miss by not visiting the Miracle of the Sun Interactive Museum?
By not visiting the Museum, they miss the opportunity to experience the story of the Apparitions as told by the Little Shepherds themselves. They also miss the opportunity for an exclusive, customized experience, where they can engage with the guide, ask questions, and gain a deeper insight into the story.
Fun fact
The holm oak tree in Our Lady’s Apparition Room of the museum is real and was specially cultivated to thrive in the lightless environment of the museum..
Tip
What makes me feel even more connected to the museum is that, even though I’m already familiar with the history of the Apparitions, the place allows us to truly immerse ourselves in the moment, seamlessly blending any prior knowledge with a captivating visual experience.
For those who are not yet familiar with the Apparitions of the Angel (1916) and Our Lady (1917), or who haven’t yet experienced a guided tour with our team but want to learn more before their visit, we suggest downloading our free eBooks on the Apparitions of Our Lady in Fátima.
