The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima, a profoundly significant pilgrimage site, continues to draw believers from all over the world in search of faith, healing, and hope. Here, the moving stories of pilgrims come to life in the pages of “At the Roots of Fátima: Unforgettable Stories”, the first book by Eliana Oliveira, a Portuguese-Brazilian entrepreneur with deep family roots that connect her to the story of the Little Shepherds of Fátima.
Eliana felt an unusual sense of urgency to share her experiences as a guide for pilgrims visiting the Sanctuary of Fátima and the village of the Little Shepherds – Aljustrel. “With each guided tour, my love for this journey grows in ways that astonish my heart”, shares Eliana. “As Sister Lúcia teaches us, while we live on Earth, we are pilgrims on our journey to heaven”.
Our Lady, Queen of Heaven and Earth, Mother of us all, who appeared in Fátima to three little shepherds with a message of profound Love for humanity. Her crown, crafted from gold and jewels donated by Portuguese women, holds a singular symbol, directly tied to the visions and messages of the apparitions: the bullet that struck Pope John Paul II during the attack on May 13, 1981.
In “At the Roots of Fátima”, the author delves into the transformative experiences of pilgrims who found comfort, healing, and inspiration. Each story is a testimony to the powerful connection between the visitors and the message of Our Lady of Fátima. Eliana observes: “I constantly see how people are deeply impacted by the apparitions and the message of hope that emanates from this sacred place”.
Reflecting on the process of writing the book, Eliana shares: “I never could have imagined that the pilgrims would also guide me on this path, sharing their stories, exchanging hugs, and, together, experiencing the profound sense of embracing this maternal love. I have been learning so much from each and every one of them”.
“At the Roots of Fátima: Unforgettable Stories” is a must-read for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the spiritual significance of Fátima and the transformative experiences of its pilgrims, many of whom found answers to their prayers in this sacred place.
Each story in this book draws us in, urging us to move from one to the next, without pause. But here’s a tip to improve your reading experience: give each story the time it needs to resonate in your heart, without rushing – just as we do with stories whispered to us in secret. Try to savor them, holding each one close, turning them into cherished secrets we can keep with us forever.

About the author, Eliana Oliveira
Founder of Raízes de Fátima, manager, and entrepreneur in Portugal.
Graduated in Hotel Management from the Estoril Higher Institute for Tourism and Hotel Studies, she worked in the hospitality industry in international sales. After becoming a mother, she transitioned to a family business, focusing on music production.
Her life is deeply connected to Our Lady of Fátima and the Little Shepherds. Her parents are Portuguese, and her family roots trace back to the Fátima region. Her maternal great-grandfather was the uncle of the little shepherds Jacinta and Francisco. Her mother was born in Aljustrel, on the street where the Little Shepherds’ homes are located, and her father lived just a few kilometers away, in a small village. However, fate brought them together only in Brazil, where Eliana and her brother were born.
In 2017, during the centenary of the apparitions, she founded the Raízes de Fátima project as a mission of love, welcoming pilgrims from all over the world with the goal of touching their hearts with the message of Our Lady of Fátima, in that Love that has the power to transform everything.
